Player of the Week

Vince Carter> |
31.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 5.3 APG | Vince Carter continued his scorching play this week, and again was the runaway winner in the Player of the Week voting at BasketballBoards.net with 87% of the vote. Vincanity added several more clips to his Net highlight reel, and was the main ingredient in the two big 3rd quarter runs that got the Nets their two wins of the week. He scored from the outside, in the low post, and in drives to the hoop. Carter took defensive challenges from Andres Nocioni and Tayshaun Prince personally, and elevated his game to score despite extra attention from his opponents. His 41 point performance was the second highest scoring output by a Net this year, falling just short of Richard Jefferson's 42-point, December 22nd output against Cleveland. Carter wasn't just a scorer this week either. He averaged 5.3 assists for the week, and had 11 rebounds against Detroit on Saturday. Now that he and Jason Kidd have had a chance to develop some chemistry, they are a lethal combination on the offensive end. Carter claimed Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors last week, and was voted to his sixth All-Star game on Wednesday. |
